Japanese people often compare Kyoto to a Go board
because its streets are laid out in a grid pattern.

This is why we chose to name our hostel The Lower East Nine,
as we are located in the ninth street,


in the southern part of Karasuma street which is running Kyoto from north to south.
You could say that if Kyoto were an house,
LE9 would be its front door.
Refusing to be ‘like’ anything else, we strive to create a unique place to travel while feeling at-home,

and hope that we will help you to enjoy to the beautiful blend of tradition and modernity that is Kyoto.
